The Mission of the Department of Chemical Engineering

The education of the Department of Chemical Engineering focuses on **specialization and excellence**, adhering to the university motto of “Faith and Practice” and aligning with the educational guidelines of the College of Engineering. In the department’s past accreditation processes, educational objectives were established based on evaluation standards and subsequently revised annually to reflect updated guidelines. These revisions aim to realize the integrated framework and spirit of uniting undergraduate and graduate programs, extending the department’s mission, educational objectives, and outcomes to the graduate program.

In addition to the undergraduate education goal of teaching practical chemical engineering techniques and cultivating professionals needed for national chemical engineering development, the program emphasizes strengthening academic knowledge in specialized fields and providing professional technical education. It trains students to think independently, solve problems, and develop innovative research and design capabilities. Furthermore, it fosters engineering ethics, teamwork, leadership, and management skills while cultivating students’ global perspectives.

To this end, the department invited faculty members, alumni, parents, employers, and representatives from relevant organizations to participate in discussions. Through meetings, and based on the university’s educational philosophy and objectives, as well as the College of Engineering’s mission and primary tasks, along with the learning goals that engineering students should achieve, the department finalized its mission, educational objectives, and expected student learning outcomes. These were discussed and approved at the Department of Chemical Engineering Faculty Meeting in June 2007 and subsequently reviewed and validated by the advisory committee. The details are outlined as follows:
